The Mindful Minute Challenge gives Apple employees a chance to learn about and practice mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness can help you feel happier, more focused, and more resilient in the face of life’s challenges.
Meditation is the brain exercise that gives you the strength and tools to be mindful.
If you're already a meditator, the Challenge is a great way to recharge your practice and meditate in community with Apple
employees all over the world. If you’re just starting, Welcome!
Apple employees get a one year subscription to the Happier app as a benefit through Apple Wellness so we hope you’ll keep meditating with us after the Challenge ends!
I tapped/scanned the link to join the Challenge but I still don’t see it in my Happier app.
Here are some things to check and troubleshoot:
- If you don’t have the Happier app on your iPhone or iPad yet, download it and tap/scan the link again.
- Try updating the Happier app on your iPhone or iPad so you’re on the most current version.
- Make sure you’re in a good WiFi or cellular signal.
- Tap/scan your personal link from Apple Wellness again.
If none of these steps solves the issue please email us at apple@happierapp.com so we can help.
Do I need a Happier account to participate in the Mindful Minute Challenge?
Yes. If you’ve participated in a previous year, welcome back! If this is your first year - we’re glad you’re here.
You can use an existing Happier account or register for a new account using your Mindful Minute Challenge link from Apple Wellness.
Do I need an iPhone to participate?
To join you need either an iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or higher. We have an Android app but it can’t be used for the Challenge. If you use Android, please email us at apple@happierapp.com and we’ll put your subscription benefit from Apple Wellness onto your Happier account.

I accidentally signed up for a Happier Free Trial while getting set up for the Challenge. How do I cancel it?
You’ll need to cancel this subscription through the App Store. Find instructions and a link to manage your Apple subscriptions on this Apple webpage: How to cancel a subscription from Apple. You can also go through these steps on your device:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad.

- Walk through the Challenge join steps again or
- email us at apple@happierapp.com and we’ll help you get signed up for the Challenge.
Refunds: If you didn't get your trial cancelled in time and you got billed for a full subscription, you'll need to request a refund from your receipt or through the Report a Problem page for your Apple ID. For your privacy, we’re not able to request or issue refunds on your behalf.
How do the prizes and medals work?
Prizes are distributed by Apple Wellness to Challenge participants who complete at least 1 minute of mindfulness meditation as recorded in their Happier app for 25 of 31 days during the month of October. Prizes are awarded at the discretion of Apple. If you have more questions please reach out to your manager or the Apple Wellness team.
You’ll get a medal in the app at the end of the Challenge based on your average number of minutes meditated per day.
- 🥇 10 minutes or more per day, on average, gets you a gold medal.
- 🥈 5 minutes or more per day, on average, gets you a silver medal.
- 🥉 1 or more minutes a day, on average, gets you a bronze medal.
There’s no need to change the medal you signed up with as it will automatically adjust based on your average minutes.
How do I find something I missed during the Challenge?
To find previous Challenge lessons, videos and meditations:
- Open the Happier app and go to the Challenge screen (it will pop automatically during the Challenge).
- Scroll down until you see Missed a Session?
- Tap See Past Sessions.
Please note:
- Meditations count on the day you actually meditate, not the date the content was released.
- Podcast episodes and Teacher Talks available in the Happier app don’t count towards your Challenge statistics, milestones, or your streak.
What do I have to do to get credit for meditating? Do I have to do today's “featured session” or can I do another meditation?
In addition to the day's featured session, anything in the Courses, Singles, or Sleep tab that you use for 1 minute or longer will count towards your Challenge statistics. Podcasts and Teacher Talks offer incredible supporting information about mindfulness meditation but they don’t count towards your Challenge completion.
If you have access to an Apple Watch, you can also use these apps to get credit for meditating during the Challenge:
- The Happier Apple Watch app
- The Breathe app
- The Mindfulness app
- Note: make sure you've connected the Happier app with the Health app to get credit for meditations done on your Apple Watch.
You can also use any meditation app that shares mindful minutes with the Health app on your iPhone as long as you've connected the Happier app with the Health app.
Can I use any meditation app for this Challenge?
While we hope that you’ll check out the custom content we’ve created just for Apple in this Challenge, you can use any meditation app that shares mindful minutes with the Health app on your iPhone. For support with set up, check out our Help Center articles:
Do I need an Apple Watch for this Challenge?
You don’t need an Apple Watch to participate in the Challenge. However, if you have one, you can use these apps to get credit for meditating during the Challenge:
- The Happier Apple Watch app
- The Breathe app
- The Mindfulness app
You need to have Happier integrated with the Health app on your iPhone to get credit for meditations done on your Apple Watch. Check out our Help Center articles:
I meditated but it didn’t get credited in my Challenge calendar. What happened?
There are a few things that impact the meditation statistics.
- If you start a meditation before midnight your time and finish it after midnight - it counts on the date you finish, not the date you started.
- We understand that your day might not run from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. which is why you don’t have to meditate every day of the Challenge to complete it. Once you get into a rhythm they should show each day.
- Keep in mind - 60 seconds or longer counts! If you're short on time you can use our Unguided Timer or a short meditation from our On the Go pack under the Singles tab instead of the Challenge session for the day. You can go through the past session later, when you have more time.
- Keep in mind - Podcasts and Teacher Talks, while offering incredible supporting information about mindfulness meditation, do not count towards your Challenge or Streak statistics.
- If you use different devices, especially if they have different versions of an operating system or they're different platforms, the meditation might register on one device but not the other. Here are some troubleshooting steps to take:
-Force Quit then reopen the app.
-Sign out and sign back in to the app. Make sure you sign back into the same account. For help read How can I tell what address my app is signed into? and Sign Into Happier With an Existing Account. - If you close the app before your meditation gets registered, you won’t get credit for it in the Challenge or in your Meditation Streak.
-Make sure you see a check mark and tap continue twice to get to your Mindful Days screen before you quit.
If a meditation didn’t register properly, here’s how to fix it:
If you’re using Happier to meditate:
- Manually add these minutes using the Health app. Check out our Help Center articles How do I enable Mindful Minutes with the Apple Health app? and How do I use the Apple Health app to add minutes to my meditation statistics? for instructions on how to get this set up and use it.
- If you saw the minutes before but don’t anymore, please force quit the Happier app. If this doesn't fix it, email your Happier support team at apple@happierapp.com and let us know what’s going on. We can help!
If you’re using another mindfulness app to meditate:
- First, make sure whichever app you're using is sharing data with the Health app:
- Open the Health App.
- Tap Browse.
- Tap Mindfulness (if running iOS 16 or below) or Mental Wellbeing (if running iOS 17 or above).
- Tap Mindful Minutes.
- Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
- Scroll down and check Data Sources.
- Make sure the app you’re using has all the permissions options turned on. If you don’t see the app you’re using on this list, you need to go into that app and find the setting that allows you to to share data with the Health app.
- Make sure Happier is sharing data with the Health app using the Help Center articles linked above.
How do I manually log Mindful Minutes?
If you’re looking to meditate without any guidance, check out our Unguided Timer using this link or under the “Go Unguided” section in Singles.
You can also manually log mindful minutes using the Apple Health app. This is particularly useful if you're practicing on your own or using an app that doesn't integrate with the Health app. If you’d like to see how to use the Health app to log meditation time, check out How do I use the Apple Health app to add minutes to my meditation statistics? in our Help Center.
If you accidentally add an incorrect meditation time or date in the Health app, you can delete it from the Health app this way:
- Within the Health app, navigate to the bottom of the Mindful Minutes screen.
- Tap Show All Data.
- Tap Edit in the top, right corner of the screen.
- Tap the red circle to the left of the meditation you want to delete.

- Open your Profile in the Happier app by tapping the Profile icon in the upper, left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down to tap on your History.
- Swipe left on the session you'd like to delete and confirm by tapping Delete.
- This will remove the session from your Happier History and stats.
To delete a mindful session originating in the Happier app from both your Happier History and from your Health app:
- Make sure your Happier app is updated to app version 6.30.0 or higher.
- Open your Profile in the Happier app by tapping the Profile icon in the upper, left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down to tap on your History.
- Swipe left on the session you'd like to delete and confirm by tapping Delete.
- This will remove the session from your Happier History and stats, as well as from the Health app (if you enabled both read and write permissions when connecting to Apple Health).
I’m doing the Challenge on multiple devices, but they aren’t syncing.
Your best bet will be to do the Challenge on a single device. If you want to try two devices, please make sure you’re signed into the same account on both of them. Sometimes the meditation will register on one device but not the other. Here are some troubleshooting steps:
- Force Quit of app or Sign out and back into the app.
- Make sure you sign back into the same account. For help read How can I tell what address my app is signed into? and Sign Into Happier With an Existing Account.
Are there teams in this Challenge?
There are no teams in this Challenge but you can invite Apple friends to join your Circle. You can add colleagues and teammates who are in the Challenge to your Circle to follow their progress, send nudges, and cheer each other on.
How can I add a coworker to My Circle?
Mindfulness meditation may not be a team sport but you and your coworkers can invite each other to join a Circle.
- Open the Challenge screen in the Happier app.
- Scroll down to My Circle.
- Tap Invite a coworker.
- Send a message using one of the options that's available on your phone (Messages, SMS texts and AirDrop work best).
For each person you add, you’ll see how many days they’ve meditated and their average meditation time. You can also nudge them by sending messages or an emoji for support and encouragement.
How do I send nudges to coworkers in My Circle?
Tap their name under My Circle on the Challenge screen to see the nudge options. Have fun!
Can I remove a coworker that I added to My Circle?
Sure thing. Scroll down the Challenge screen until you see the friend you want to remove, then swipe left on their name and tap Delete. This will remove them from your circle and remove you from their circle. You’ll no longer be able to see each others’ progress or send each other nudges.
Can I invite a non-Apple employee to the Mindful Minute Challenge?
Sorry, this is a private event for Apple employees but feel free to encourage family and friends to join you for a mindful minute, or two.
I'm having trouble remembering to meditate. How can I get more notifications?
During the Challenge, the Happier app sends out reminders each morning and evening (if you haven’t yet meditated that day). You may also set another daily meditation reminder at the time of your choosing in the app:
- Tap the Profile icon in the upper, left corner of the screen.
- Tap Settings in the upper righthand corner.
- Tap Reminders.
- Turn on Daily Reminder.
In the Mindfulness app on your Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Open the Mindfulness settings.
- Increase the number of Reminders you get in a day.
You can also use the Reminders app on your iPhone to set your own schedule.
Will Apple see any of my information?
The only information Apple will receive from Happier is your unique key because it shows whether you’ve completed the Challenge. If you complete a mindful minute and it got recorded in Happier at least 25 of 31 days, your unique key will be returned to the Wellness team so they can identify you and send any rewards you earned.
Can I still access the app if I missed registering for the Mindful Minute Challenge?
Absolutely! As an Apple employee you’re entitled to free access to the Happier app through the Apple Wellness employee benefit. You can claim your subscription using this link.
If you run into any trouble, just reach out to our team at apple@happierapp.com and we'll be glad to help!
What other features are available in the Happier app?
We're constantly improving the Happier app and always love hearing your feedback! At this time, you can find the following in the app:
- Home is your home base in the app and is your entry point for the challenge and other suggested content. Each day you'll find a featured Challenge meditation, your event progress, and more!
- Courses are video lessons about different topics people like to address with meditation. Most courses have 5-10 lessons that are made up of a video discussion between Dan Harris, the student, and one of the meditation teachers. Our meditation teachers are some of the best known in the world and they share their answers to the most common questions meditators have, as well as some of the deeper questions. When the 2-3 minute video lesson ends, a guided meditation will start that will in some way relate to topic discussed in the lesson. If you'd like to do the meditation without watching the lesson you can tap the word Meditate at the top of the screen and you'll go directly to the meditation.
- Singles are single meditations with no video lesson. They're sorted into folders that address different topics. Tap on a folder, choose a meditation and tap on it to play. You can also search for a particular theme or teacher. Some of the Single meditations have length options. You can change the length by tapping the time button and choosing your preferred duration. When you're ready to start the meditation, tap the red circle with the play button inside it.
- Sleep tab has meditations for use at night or for winding down and is in dark mode.
- Podcasts includes in-app access to our award-winning Happier podcast and Teacher Talks which are short talks on topics meditators have asked about. These are intended to be something you can listen to while on the go, perhaps if you don't have time to meditate. Content in this tab does not count towards your Challenge or Streak statistics.
- Profile is where you can keep track of your mindful statistics including total number of days you’ve meditated, number of meditation sessions and total minutes. You can also share complimentary Guest Pass subscriptions (30 days) with friends & family and celebrate your achievements by tracking your Milestones. There's no limit to how many Guest Passes you share although each friend can use your Guest Pass only once. To get to your Profile: Tap the Profile icon in the upper, left corner of the screen. You can access your app's Settings by tapping the gear icon in the upper, right corner.
